The BlackBerry Curve 3G is effectively a 3G upgrade to earlier Curve models, and was released in August 2010. It's a standard QWERTY keypad BlackBerry handset with a 320x240 pixel display.

BlackBerry Curve handsets like the 9300 (aka Curve 3G) are frequently locked to one carrier or mobile network, so that only SIM cards from that company can be used. However, that's not permanent, and it can be easily removed allowing the device to be used on a network of your choice. That of course includes 3G only networks (like Three UK). You'll know the Curve 3G is network locked if it asks you for a Network MEP code when you turn it on with the SIM card you wish to use. If you see other messages, please do contact us before placing an order, just in case you require some other service.

Switching Networks

The 9300 Curve 3G is a Quad Band phone as well as being 3G compatible, meaning that it can work on any mobile network in the world. BlackBerry services must be supported to work on the network (usually the case if that network does sell BlackBerry handsets itself), but calls, texts and internet will always work.

Unlocking a mobile phone generally increases its resale value, simply because of the improved utility. You can use local SIM cards in each country you visit, lend it to friends to use with their own SIM when their phone battery runs out, or just change networks when you reach the end of your contract or for specific purposes like making cheaper calls abroad.

Different Tools

Ordering a set of network unlock codes for the BlackBerry Curve 3G will mean that you receive a set of 5 codes via email, all marked separately for different purposes. In almost all cases, you'll only need the NCK or MEP2 (network unlock code) which will be marked as such, so you only need to enter one code. If you need any of the others, we'll let you know.
