The HTC Wildfire S is the 2011 successor to the 2010 HTC Wildfire. It is one of three phones to be announced by HTC at Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona. The Wildfire S is a quad band touch screen device that ships running Android 2.3. It has a 5 megapixel camera with auto focus as well as WiFi and HSDPA data access. You only need one 8-digit unlock code to remove the network lock from this phone.

How to enter unlock codes on the Wildfire S

    Turn on the HTC Wildfire S with a non accepted SIM card

    The phone will say Network Locked - slide down the Screen Locked bar as usual

    Enter the unlock code and press OK

    The phone will now work for making calls and sending texts

    To connect to the internet, you need to update the APN in the HTC Settings > Wireless and Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names menu. Your new network will give you the settings that you need to enter.

SIM lock

On HTC handsets such as the HTC Wildfire S, the lock we assist with is referred to as a SIM Network lock, and the code we supply is in this situation called a SIM Network Unlock PIN (that's what the phone will request from you). Other people may refer to it as a network unlock code or similar.

Locking is a practice done by networks or manufacturers when they ship new phones, as it enables them to sell the device at a discount knowing that most customers will only use the Wildfire S with their network. However, that doesn't mean you can't unlock it and use the phone as you wish.

Switching Networks

Unlocking the HTC Wildfire S enables you to switch networks by swapping the SIM card that came with the phone for a SIM card from another carrier or mobile network. This could be a SIM from a network in another country, or a different network in the same country. (Networks with the same name in different countries like Vodafone are actually separate mobile networks).

Being able to switch networks whenever you need affords you a great deal of flexibility with your Android device. You can use cheaper tariffs while travelling abroad by accessing a local network without roaming. You can also sell on the phone without worrying what network the purchaser wants to use.

Different Tools

Every HTC Wildfire S has a unique IMEI number (a serial number just for mobile phones). We pay for access to a database of IMEI numbers and their corresponding 8-digit HTC unlock codes. All you need is that one code to remove the network lock in a matter of minutes. It's very important to ensure that every digit of the IMEI is correct, as that's the only way that the code you receive will also be correct.
